VANOC updates for 2007
VANOC and its partners are planning events in February and March to celebrate the three-year countdown to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
VANOC expects to conclude and announce approximately fice new sponsorship agreements in the first quarter of 2007. The Licenseing and Marchandise program will also continue to grow and VANOC anticipates announcing at least seven new licensees early in the year.
Organizers anticipate final approval and public release of the updated business plan in early 2007. After the Torino 2006 Winter Games, VANOC udertook a comprehensice review of its entire operations and updated its draft business plan. The ongoing partner reviews and discussions of hte business plan and its planned release in are consistent with standard procedures for an Organizing Committee three years in advance of the Games.
VANOC anticipates completing seven venues in 2007, including the Whistler Nordic competition venue (biathlon, ski jump and cross0country), the Whislter sliding centre, Cypress snowboard venus, Whistler apline venue and hastins Park skating venue.
Other anticipated 2007 milestones include completion of a preliminary operations plan, the development and unveiling of Vancouver 2010 mascot or mascots, visits by the IOC Coordination Commission in March and September and the adding of approximately 250 employees during calendar 2007.
